Basalt & El Jebel (Willits) Market Information
For years after the recession it seemed that Willit’s sucked the vitality out of Basalt. WIth Whole Foods as it’s anchor tenant, many of Basalt’s iconic shops and restaurants moved to the thriving Willit’s area. Nowadays, however, Basalt is gaining momentum. Several high end sales in the core (many by Roaring Fork Club members) and high demand in both Elk Run and the condo/townhome market have put Basalt back on the real estate map. Furthermore, the controversial Pan and Fork Site (formerly known as the Basalt River Park) along the Roaring Fork River recently gained approvals for a restaurant, non-profit space, commercial space and some residences; all of which should bring some vibrancy back to Basalt.
After experiencing only a few down years after the recession, Willit’s, on the other hand, has been cranking. It now supports 8 restaurants, an abundance of mixed use commerical/office space, the Element Hotel. several new apartment buildings, and a large demand for the numerous condo and townhome developments that surround it. This has been the valley’s greatest area of growth in recent years and there are approvals in place for quite a bit more.
