Why Us

About Home Waters Real Estate

Land with Meaning. Relationships Built on Trust. A Network Designed for the West.

At Home Waters Real Estate, we represent more than just property—we represent the connection between people and place. Whether it’s a mountain home, fly-fishing retreat, or a multi-generational holding, our approach is rooted in trust, discretion, and an appreciation for the Western way of life.

Privacy Comes First

We believe some of the most meaningful transactions happen quietly. Many of our clients come through trusted referrals, preferring a private process over public marketing. Whether selling a long-held family property or acquiring a new retreat, our team understands the importance of confidentiality. The same ethos apply to our favorite fishing holes, powder stashes, and hunting spots.  We act with intention, ensuring that every relationship is handled with care and respect.

A Trusted Referral Network

Our business is built on relationships—not volume. Masters of finding exclusive off-market opportunities. We take pride in earning the trust of past clients, industry peers, and landowners across the region. Referrals are the foundation of our work, allowing us to deliver a personalized experience with proven results. We’re not here for every deal—we’re here for the right ones.

Deep Regional Expertise

Our brokers come from diverse backgrounds in land use planning, conservation, development, and outdoor recreation. We live the lifestyle our clients seek. That insight allows us to communicate a property’s true value—from water access and wildlife habitat to build potential and long-term stewardship goals.

Through the Home Waters Development Network, we connect clients with local experts in design, engineering, and land improvement. From restoring an alpine cabin to developing a mountain property with care, our extended team helps clients unlock each property’s full potential—without compromising its character.

Land That Reflects a Lifestyle

We focus on properties that offer something more than acreage or views. We represent land that supports a life well-lived—quiet mornings on the porch, time with family in wild places, and investments that endure. Our role is to ensure each property ends up in the right hands, with the right vision behind it.

This isn’t just real estate. It’s a responsibility.

At Home Waters , we approach every client and every property with the thoughtfulness it deserves—always private, always personal, and always guided by your story.

Our history

Home Waters Real Estate Group was founded by professionals with deep roots in the Rocky Mountains and a shared passion for land, lifestyle, and stewardship. What began as a vision to offer more authentic, locally grounded real estate services has grown into a trusted brokerage serving buyers and sellers across the region. Founding broker Mike Shook, who has authored over 17  guidebooks on fly fishing and the outdoors, brings unmatched insight and credibility to the landscapes we represent. With a team grounded in conservation, guiding, and marketing, we've built our reputation on relationships, results, and a genuine love for the places we call home.

Mission Statement

At Home Waters Real Estate Group, our mission is to connect people with meaningful properties that reflect their values and lifestyle. We’re committed to honest service, local expertise, and a deep respect for the land. Whether you're buying or selling, we strive to make the process thoughtful, strategic, and true to the spirit of the Mountain West.

Stewardship

Protecting the Land. Supporting the Lifestyle.

At Home Waters Real Estate, stewardship isn't just a value—it’s a responsibility. We believe that access to wild places comes with a duty to protect them. Our agents live, work, and recreate in the very landscapes we represent, which is why we proudly support the nonprofits that safeguard these experiences for future generations.

Combined we've fished more rivers, skied more peaks, rode more miles, hunted harder, and shared more then a few tales around campfires then the rest.

But if you ask us we're just getting started.
